Theoretical and Methodological Essence Substantiation of the Concept «Sustainable Development of an Enterprise»

Approaches to the translation and interpretation of the concept «sustainable development» are considered. The essence of the concept «stability» from the point of view of philology, physics, systems theory is characterized. The expediency of using the concept «sustainability» for the study of the enterprise development processes is argued. Based on the results of the theoretical study, the positions of scientists towards the essence definition of the concept «sustainable development of an enterprise» are investigated and the main essential characteristics of the studied category are identified: balanced quantitative and qualitative, structural changes that correspond to the goals of the enterprise; consolidation, support and growth of the existing potential of the enterprise; ensuring a certain type of the balance, which depends on the strategy chosen by the enterprise; overcoming unfavorable macroeconomic conditions caused by sanctions and other external unfavourable factors; the ability of the system to return to the state of equilibrium after it was brought out of this state under the influence of internal and / or external influences; ensuring high indicators of the social, economic, technical condition of the enterprise.
It is substantiated that the existing interpretations of the essence of the concept «sustainable development of an enterprise» are consistent with the spatio-temporal aspect. The main approaches to the essence definition of the concept «sustainable development of an enterprise» such as conservative, systemic, effective, synergistic, process and complex ones are highlighted. Their systemic combinatorics will create practical conditions for the implementation of the concept «sustainable development». Based on the generalization of existing scientific views, the author's vision of the concept «sustainable development of an enterprise» is formulated as a balanced, harmonious process of qualitative and quantitative changes, the main goal of which is to ensure the continuity of the equilibrium of the socio-economic system, taking into account its adaptation to changing external conditions and the achievement of consistently high results.
