In this trilogy article, man and his essence are presented in images characteristic of such extremely opposite historical types of worldview as myth/religion and science. At the same time, it is noteworthy that the ideas about the essence and purpose of man are somehow refracted through the prism of images of work specific to each of these types of worldview, which also received their reflected existence in myth/religion and science: labor as a product of man, his consciousness and forms of social connection - labor as an unbearable burden. and the punishment of the gods is labor as a heavy cross and the atonement of original sin – labor as the curse of capitalism – labor as a free play of spiritual and physical forces.
