THE ROLE OF CAVITATION EFFECTS IN ULTRASONIC MICRIODE OXYDATION ACTIVATION
Keywords:
anodic micro-arc oxidation, ultrasonic activation, electrolyte, cavitation bubbles, collapse, oxide layerAbstract
The article proposes a method for determining the growth and collapse of cavitation bubbles during micro-arc oxidation (MAO) induced by the transmission of ultrasonic vibrations through the electrolyte; it also presents data on the optimization of calculations for all parameters of the activated process, based on results obtained in the previous stage. The theoretical concepts outlined in regarding the factors governing oxide layer formation on a surface undergoing ultrasonic-activated micro-arc oxidation (MAO) led to the selection of a cavitation model as the primary mechanism for intensifying the growth process and stabilizing the structure of the resulting oxide layers. The proposed model of cavitation bubble formation and growth in an ultrasound-activated electrolyte enables the calculation and optimization of the key parameters of the AMDO process responsible for producing oxide coatings with predictable characteristics.
