An Integrated Approach to Sustainable Development of Territories

The concept of «sustainable development» is generalized, the principles and goals of the sustainable development of territories are highlighted, and a scheme for developing an integrated approach to the formation of the mechanism for the sustainable development of the state is proposed. It is determined that an integrated approach to the sustainable development of territories involves the integration of economic, social and environmental aspects of development in order to create sustainable and favourable conditions for people’s lives, and the key ones are considered. The system of mechanisms for implementing the concept of sustainable development, based on an integrated approach, is improved, and stages are identified that make it possible to more effectively implement this concept in the conditions of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
It is determined that the implementation of the sustainable development concept does not yet guarantee rapid growth in the welfare of the people and will require painstaking work and consolidated efforts of politicians, managers, scientists and the entire progressive population of the Donetsk People’s Republic. A very important condition for the sustainable national development is proper political management by the top leadership of the Republic, as well as the development of the unified development strategy that corresponds to the economic and social characteristics of the DPR.
The development scheme of an integrated approach to creating a mechanism for sustainable development, which gives a general idea of the main aspects of the construction of this mechanism is proposed. These aspects include basic elements, management processes, control functions at each stage, as well as the choice of methods for assessing the effectiveness of managing the sustainable development of the country.
