Assessment of the Operational Condition of Donbass Road Bridges

This article analyzes methods for assessing the operational condition of road bridges.
The types of technical condition in each of the methods, the system of technical condition assessments are
considered, the concept of the technical condition of bridges, the stages of its forecasting are given, the complexity and compliance of each of the methods with the main consumer properties required of bridges are assessed, as well as the possibility of using them in determining the actual operational condition of the Donbass road bridges.
The assessment of the operational condition of road bridges using the Russian methodology has a more
complete, broader scope and ensures the consumer properties of bridge structures. Its results are used for a more
complete justification and determination of the operational condition of bridges. The calculation of load-bearing capacity according to the Ukrainian method is simpler, but the calculation results according to this method are not sufficient for a more complete justification and determination of the operational condition of bridges. We believe that when determining the technical condition of Donbass road bridges that have various damages, at the first stage, for a preliminary assessment of their technical condition, it is advisable to perform calculations according to the «simplified scheme», but with the obligatory use of the method of S. M. Kovalenko.
